Apricot

Turkey is the largest producer of apricots globally, particularly known for its high-quality fresh and dried apricots. The country’s ideal growing conditions, combined with traditional agricultural practices and advanced farming technologies, contribute to the excellent reputation of Turkish apricots. Apricots are typically harvested between June and August, depending on the region and variety. Fresh apricots are quickly processed to maintain their quality, especially those destined for export. For dried apricots, the drying process involves sorting, washing, and either sulfur-drying or sun-drying. This attention to detail ensures a high-quality end product with minimal defects. Efforts are being made to minimize the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, promote soil conservation, and adopt renewable energy sources. Turkey is the dominant supplier of apricots to the global market, particularly dried apricots, which account for around 85% of the world’s production. The main export destinations include the European Union, the United States, Russia, and the Middle East. Turkey’s reputation for high-quality apricots, along with its adherence to international quality standards, makes Turkish apricots a sought-after commodity in the global market.
